Nanoparticles aided AOP for degradation of p-nitro benzoic acid
【Abstract】 Present study emphasis on photo assisted oxidation of p-nitro benzoic acid using hydrogen peroxide as strong oxidizing agent and heterocatalytic iron nanoparticles synthesised by hydrothermal mode. The powder nano-samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and Energy dispersive analysis of X-rays (EDAX). Rate of degradation was studied at varying conditions. The percentage degradation of p NBA using goethite (α-FeOOH) and hematite (α-Fe2O3) was 70.54% and 85.5% with the nano concentration 0.07 g respectively using visible light. Hence, hydrothermal mode of nano synthesis at elevated temperature can be a better option for photocatalytic degradation of organic pollute using visible light.
